Jennifer Schulz\n\n\n\n\n About the Speakers\n\n\n\nTwila Brase\n\nTwila Brase is president and co-founder of the Citizens' Council for Health Freedom (CCHF)\, a national organization based in St. Paul\, Minnesota supporting health care choices\, individualized patient care and medical and genetic privacy.\n\n \n\nIn August 2009\, Modern Healthcare named her #75 on their "100 Most Powerful People in Healthcare" list. Her efforts led to a 2014 parent consent law for federally-funded research using newborn DNA and a viral CCHF billboard campaign ("Obamacare Games"). Her efforts have helped 38 states refuse ACA exchanges\, stopped government-issued treatment directives\, added consent requirements for online access to patient data\, drawn national awareness to nationwide genetic privacy violations regarding newborn DNA\, and led to successful lawsuits in Minnesota and Texas against illegal state storage\, use\, and dissemination of newborn DNA ("Baby DNA") for genetic research without parent consent.\n\nIn September 2014\, Ms. Brase received the "Freedom of Informed Choice" award at the Sacred Fire of Liberty Gala and Award Ceremony in Maryland. In October 2013\, Ms. Brase received the 2013 Eagle Forum's Eagle Award for Minnesota. Ms. Brase's "Health Freedom Minute" is heard on over 400 radio stations in 45 states. She provides testimony at state legislatures\, meets with members of Congress\, and speaks around the country. \n\n\n\nShe also testified before a federal committee against HIPAA's national patient identification number. Her article "Blame Congress for HMOs" has been placed into the Congressional Record of the U.S. House of Representatives.\n\n \n\nMs. Brase holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Nursing from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter\, Minnesota\, specialized in emergency room nursing\, and is a certified public health nurse.\n\n(http://www.cchfreedom.org) "Securing Health Freedom for All"\n\n \n\nKerri Gordon\n\nKerri joined Allina Health in March of 2010. Previous work included lobbying for a firm in Washington\, D.C.\, and working for the Minnesota Senate.\n\n \n\nIn 2002\, Gordon received her Master's in Public Policy from the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota. Gordon attended American University in Washington\, DC where she earned her undergraduate degree. She lives in Minnetonka with her husband and sons.\n\n\n\n\n\nVia the chamber's role of "Business Advocacy" the chamber hosts these gatherings to bring public officials and the business community together to explore collaboration\, to learn from each other\, and to air issues of concern which impact Minnesota's business climate.
