Seminar Topic: Demystifying The Mobile Internet
Featured Speaker: Gary Braley
We are about to be swamped by another computer revolution; there have been three so far. First came the wide spread adoption of computers in business in the 1960s; second we saw the introduction of PCs in the 1980s and finally the spread of the Internet in the 1990s. The next revolution is upon us and anyone who tries to ignore it will be left behind in a few short years.
The Fourth Revolution in Computer Technology began in 2010 with the introduction of the Apple iPad - the first truly usable tablet computer. In one short year dozens of companies announced a myriad of competing products in a category that did not exist twelve months earlier. Coming on the heals of the smartphone, tablets are changing the way we work, learn, communicate and play. We don't have to look for a phone now when we want to make a call and now we will no longer have to go to a computer to process information; we can have one available just like a cell phone - portable and always on.
The PC revolution took a decade to impact our lives but this one will happen much more quickly for three reasons:
-
First - we are familiar with PC technology and easily recognize what a big improvement these new devices bring.
-
Second - they are much cheaper than early PCs.
-
Third - touch screens, voice transcription and the new "app store model" for software make the user experience much more satisfying. While traditional desktop and portable PCs will not go away, most people will be thrilled to do much of their work on a convenient tablet type device.
Hearing about a new device that already has 400,000 programs available is certainly intimidating. This lecture will demystify the Mobile Internet and prepare your business to get on board before the ship sales.
