& American Association of Micro Businesses (AAM)
Seminar: 3:00 Registration Opens
3:30-5:00 p.m. Presentation
Seminar Topic: Demystifying The Mobile Internet
Featured Speaker: Gary Braley
The Fourth Revolution in Computer Technology began in 2010 with the introduction of the Apple iPad - the first truly usable tablet computer. In one short year dozens of companies announced a myriad of competing products in a category that did not exist twelve months earlier. Coming on the heals of the smartphone, tablets are changing the way we work, learn, communicate and play. We don't have to look for a phone now when we want to make a call and now we will no longer have to go to a computer to process information; we can have one available just like a cell phone - portable and always on.
The PC revolution took a decade to impact our lives but this one will happen much more quickly for three reasons:
- First - we are familiar with PC technology and easily recognize what a big improvement these new devices bring.
- Second - they are much cheaper than early PCs.
- Third - touch screens, voice transcription and the new "app store model" for software make the user experience much more satisfying. While traditional desktop and portable PCs will not go away, most people will be thrilled to do much of their work on a convenient tablet type device.
Gary Braley has a passion for explaining technology to non-technical audiences. He has been involved with computers his entire career including aerospace and healthcare systems development, project management and consulting. He has lectured to hundreds of groups across the country and abroad. He's taught at the high school and university level and enjoys helping people understand how things work.
